Office and residential units (levels 0 to 4), from level 5 residential

The building constructed in the 1950s on this 25 m x 30 m plot is in two parts, with different construction techniques and structural designs applied to reflect different use functions. On a shared floor slab of reinforced concrete, one half took the form of a reinforced concrete skeleton framing 8 storage levels (cellar, ground floor, 5 regular floors and 1 attic). The other half was a cross-wall structure of reinforced concrete with 18 square, vertically continuous silos. The rectangular building has a solid outer wall.

A striking mansard roof approx. 6 m high, likewise built of reinforced concrete, clasps the two parts together. Conversions and extensions are underway to prepare the old storage structure for residential and office use. From level 4 upwards, the north and south façades have been recessed by one axis, resulting in different depths with different uses to match. Levels 0 to 5 will accommodate office units of up to 1,400 m² per storey. From Level 5 upwards, the building will contain smaller units converted into maisonettes for residential or partly commercial use. The structure will be complemented towards Cuvrystrasse by an office and residential building. Altogether this will create up to 30 units with a useful floor area of approx. 6,571 m² (of which 933 m² residential and 5,638 m² offices). An underground car park below the building will provide 31 spaces.
