The project is based in a former industrial building linked to an underground car park right by Oberbaumbrücke in the Kreuzberg district. The core structure and façade have not been altered since their original construction in the 1970s. In its current condition, this building requires thorough remediation work on the shell and outdoor area. The owner, Victoria Mühlenwerke GmbH, wants to redevelop the existing building in order to enhance its energy efficiency and architectural quality, to extend the existing block by building upwards and to add a new block for greater density, embedding the complex within the courtyard framework.
